Kevin Feige is one of the most widely known faces right now in the industry. Hardly unknown to anyone, he is the mastermind behind the formation of the vastly popular Marvel Cinematic Universe. He is highly praised for his admirable vision of the MCU which started with 2008’s Iron Man and is not going to end soon. Recently, one of the MCU producers Nate Moore took to an interview to praise the Marvel Studios president for his exceptional contribution to the world of comic book movies.
Despite its worldwide popularity, superhero movies have been repeatedly criticized by various prominent directors. One of the recent names added to that list is the director Quentin Tarantino. So looking at the scenario, it seems that Nate Moore’s words on Kevin Feige had more to it than simply being a statement to praise the Marvel Boss.
What did Nate Moore say about Kevin Feige?
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, the 49 years old Marvel President is crowned as the creator of one of the biggest interconnected movie universes. Worthy to be mentioned, the MCU has 4 of its movies on the list of 10th highest-grossing movies of all time. It is considered a pop culture phenomenon in the present times.
Recently as the 30th movie of the MCU, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever released in the theaters, one of the producers of the movie Nate Moore spoke highly about the Marvel Boss. Praising Kevin Feige, Moore said in The Town podcast, that he has never seen anyone so dedicated to movies as him.
“[I’ve worked with Kevin Feige for] about 12 years… I don’t know that I know of another person who loves, who truly loves movies as much as Kevin does. And all kinds of movies.”
Adding more to his statement, Nate Moore said that even after being so successful, Feige gives much freedom to the creators and always lets them improve. Further, he even stated that one of the key attributes that make the Avengers producer so special is his knowledge about the moments in movies. According to Nate Moore, he knows very well about the magical moments in movies.
“And I always think he knows the moments in the movies that will work. So you can pitch him a whole story, and he’ll be like, ‘That’s really interesting.’ But it’s the moments for him that stick out, and I think that’s an interesting perspective to have”
It can be well understood if we look back at moments like Thor’s entry in Wakanda in Avengers: Infinity War or Captain America’s iconic “Avengers Assemble!” in Avengers: Endgame. The MCU knows very well how to make the theaters roar.
What did Quentin Tarantino comment on modern movies?
As the MCU is loved by the whole world, the bittersweet reception received by it from several prominent Hollywood faces is also very common. Personalities like Martin Scorsese and Francis Ford Coppola criticized the superhero media in the past. Joining them is the director of some of the iconic movies such as Django Unchained, Pulp Fiction, and Inglorious Bastards, Quentin Tarantino.
Earlier this month, speaking to the Los Angeles Times, Tarantino criticized modern movies and revealed his disinterest in working with the Kevin Feige fortress by saying:
“You have to be a hired hand to do those things. I’m not a hired hand. I’m not looking for a job”
The 59-year-old also joined the other directors to claim that superhero movies don’t fall under the category of real cinema. He claimed this era to be the worst for Hollywood movies.
Now looking at some of the disappointing projects in Marvel’s Phase 4, many fans claimed the MCU to be a lost cause. But with the latest Black Panther: Wakanda Forever getting both commercially as well as critically appreciated, the Kevin Feige-led studio raises more hope regarding its future among the fans.
