With the hiatus surrounding James Gunn’s upcoming magnum opus, iconic actor Chris Pratt went down memory lane for some…memories. Well, initially, he wasn’t meant to be cast as Star-Lord in the Guardians of the Galaxy when he blew his screening test.

According to the actor, James Gunn stopped Pratt midway through his screening test and simply stated that he did not know what Pratt was doing. After some great directorial techniques employed by Gunn, Chris Pratt was eventually cast in the role of Star-Lord and went on to become an Avenger in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

When Chris Pratt Blew His Auditions in Front of James Gunn!

During a tumultuous time when James Gunn was fired from Marvel for some tweets that he posted years ago, the future of the Guardians seemed to be gone. Recalling the tough time, Chris Pratt stated how he prayed for Gunn’s future and for the director to be reinstated into the franchise once again.

After work on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 resumed, Pratt went on to talk about the initial days of shooting and meeting director James Gunn. Auditioning for the role of Peter Quill, Pratt recalled the hilarious screen test that he blew quite horribly. The Jurassic World actor recalled that James Gunn had to interrupt him mid-way through his audition and ask him what was he doing!

Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Chris Pratt recreated the moment and stated James Gunn’s POV during the screen test. As per the actor, here’s what James Gunn had to say after stopping him midway through his auditions.

“I don’t know what you’re doing, but you’re blowing it. This is the moment right now. You just need to stop doing whatever you’re doing and just be real. Just be you.”

After the whole incident, Gunn quickly grew a liking to Pratt’s shenanigans and then cast him in the role of Star-Lord in the MCU. Although it was speculated to be a flop, the Guardians of the Galaxy made a name for itself, and director James Gunn feels like a proud father of a great franchise coming to a graceful end.

Due to some tweets that the director wrote way back on his Twitter, James Gunn was fired before Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 started properly filming. After his departure, fans around the world and the cast of the movie pitched in to help the director out.

After getting fired from the MCU, the director realized a great thing regarding life and what truly mattered. Opening up about it in an interview, here’s what the Peacemaker director said about his priorities.

“My feet weren’t on the ground at that point. It really made me go, ‘What matters to me? Adulation and money? Is that really what I care about?’ ”

With the hiatus of the upcoming magnum opus Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set for a release date of 5th May 2023. James Gunn is set for a return as the director alongside Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana.
