James Gunn is now the co-CEO of DC Studios with Peter Safran and he has charted out a new DCU. But before he was planning on making Superman: Legacy, he made The Suicide Squad. Released in 2021 at the height of the pandemic, it managed to rake in only $167 million.

However, there’s one Harley Quinn scene in the film that flabbergasted everyone. But more than that, it was people’s reaction to a specific aspect of Margot Robbie’s character in the movie that made James Gunn scratch his head and rethink his opinions on humanity.

In The Suicide Squad, Margot Robbie‘s Harley Quinn has her hands tied to the ceiling as her legs dangle down. Then, to escape, she crushes a guard’s neck with her legs and then gets the keys to the lock from him. Then in a display of acrobatics, she twists herself upwards with the key between her toes to open the lock.

Viewers wondered only one thing when they watched this scene- Did Margot Robbie do this entire stunt sequence herself? The answer to that is yes. In an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live! James Gunn said:

“The hardest thing I asked her to do was something I never thought she would be able to do. She is like a human Swiss army knife who was able to flip herself backward to do this. Watching this scene with her flipping backward was just beyond incredible and I was so happy that it worked.”

Margot Robbie then revealed how dexterous she was with her feet. Then, as expected, the conversation snowballed from that to Gunn being disgusted at people wanting to look at the Tarzan actress’ feet.

During the Jimmy Kimmel interview, Margot Robbie revealed that her toes are dexterous and she can even play the piano with them. The Once Upon a Time in Hollywood actress said.

“That was me. I’m very dexterous with my toes. I could braid someone’s hair with my toes, I reckon. I could pick a lock no problem.”

This made James Gunn reveal that he got requests from people wanting to see Margot Robbie’s feet, and he’s absolutely horrified at that. The director said:

“Believe me, I’m on Twitter. I know people want to see your feet. I don’t know where do these people come from. ‘Do we get to see Margot Robbie’s feet?’ I am like that’s what you are thinking about? We’ve got huge bombs. We’ve got buildings fall over. We’ve got Idris Elba, John Cena, Margot Robbie — all these great people. But those are the stars (points at Robbie’s feet).”

Whether people will get to see Robbie’s feet be front and center in a film again is unknown. In fact, it isn’t even known if she will continue playing Harley Quinn in the DCU. However, fans are hoping that Gunn keeps an actress of her caliber in the upcoming DC reboot.

The Suicide Squad is on HBO Max.
