In an intriguing anecdote, the film director Ol Parker once shared that there was a particular scene in the movie where Clooney and the Gaslit movie star were supposed to argue, but the actress struggled to act mean to her co-star.

“The only note I had to give Julia in the whole movie was the scene where they actually argue for real after the marketplace. They have an argument about how they brought up Lily. Julia was just going easy on George,” Parker explains.

“I was like, ‘Julia, what’s up? What’s happening here? George went for it on his close-up, and he’s still going for it on hers, and she’s not. I was like, ‘What is going on here?'”

He further added,

“She went, ‘I just don’t like shouting. I don’t like being mean to George. And I was like, ‘You got to let him have it.’ She’s like, ‘Okay.’ And then the next take is the one in the movie, and it’s sensational.”

George Clooney has done a couple of films with Julia Roberts before their 2022 rom-com Ticket to Paradise. The movie received an overwhelming response from fans and critics alike and grossed $172 million at the global box office.

“I’ve always been drawn to Julia, for a lot of reasons. One of them is that she has forever been a proper movie star, but she’s totally willing to not take herself seriously, and that makes such a difference in life because we’ve spent a lot of time together. She’s also a really gifted actress.”
