One would assume that her stature in society would exempt her from the harsh realities of sexism. However, the cruel thing about chauvinism is that it spares no one. Unfortunately, no amount of achievements seems to stop people from questioning whether a woman should be in a particular field.
Carano was asked a similar question by MMA legend Nick Diaz, and she knew exactly what to say to make him understand her perspective.
What Does Nick Diaz Think About Gina Carano’s Career?
One of the most significant figures in the world of women’s MMA was certainly Gina Carano. The actress paved the way for all who enjoy the spoils of the sport and helped it gain the relevance it has today. While there is a lot more progress to be done, there is no denying that any steps forward in this field have with her side-by-side.

Despite all of her influence, many question the presence of women, as a whole, in the field. During an interview with Joe Rogan on his podcast, the actress revealed that Nick Diaz was one such person.
And he was like ‘You know, I gotta tell you, I don’t really like women fighting.’
It would seem that during one of their conversations, the MMA legend told his fellow MMA fighter that he wasn’t the biggest fan of women fighting. Rather than dealing with the comment in a hostile manner, Carano took a different approach.
Gina Carano Knows How to Deal With Sexist Remarks
Gina Carano seems to have a very different approach when it comes to dealing with sexist comments; rather than calling them out on their misogyny, she labels their perspectives as simply being ‘old-fashioned’. Picking the same attitude in her conversation with Nick Diaz , she mentioned that he was simply of an older thinking.
I was like, ‘That’s okay. You know, maybe you’re just a little old-fashioned. And I was like, ‘Do you think my dad likes this? Do you think anybody in my family likes me fighting?

When the fighter was confused by her comment, she clarified that she understood where he was coming from, as her family was of similar thinking. It would seem that after her comment, Diaz fully assumed his ‘old-fashioned’ role.
Then he was like pulling out my chair and opening my door.
Carano revealed that after their conversation, the fighter completely switched up his attitude and started practicing extreme chivalry. He would open doors for her and pull out chairs; her words having had a serious impact on his thinking.
