Robert De Niro Allegedly Did Not Want Mickey Rourke In The Irishman

Robert De Niro starred in The Irishman alongside Al Pacino and Joe Pesci. The movie was a Martin Scorsese work and Mickey Rourke had his eyes on the film as well. The actor alleged that he had been offered a role only to be denied later on.

“Marty Scorsese wanted to meet me for a movie with Al Pacino, Joe Pesci and Robert De Niro,” Rourke claimed. “The casting person told my manager that Robert De Niro said he refused to work with me in a movie.”

He added that the only reason he could not be a part of Scorsese’s The Irishman was because De Niro refused to work with Rourke. He allegedly had made sure Rourke would have no part in the movie and it was all because of a personal feud. De Niro’s PR team also responded to these allegations and stated that Rourke had never even been offered a role let alone be denied of it afterward.

Mickey Rourke Claimed That Robert De Niro Refused To Make Contact With Him

Mickey Rourke and Robert De Niro worked together on Angel Heart. Their feud started from that very film as there began rumors of the latter calling the former a liar. However, these rumors were never confirmed and they happened to be passed down to the actor from a friend of his.
