Dave Bautista declined Fast and Furious franchise for his dream role

Dave Bautista is known for appearing in some of the mega franchises, and one of them is the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His role as Drax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy lives rent-free in our minds. His notable acting skills and versatility are something fans can count on, and it would have been interesting to witness the actor playing some action roles.

To everyone’s surprise, the actor was offered a role in the action-thriller film series Fast and Furious, but he declined it. The actor turned down the role in Franchise because it wasn’t his thing; moreover, he was more interested in playing a role in the Gears of War adaptation instead. The actor said,

“I don’t mean to offend anybody. I’m not putting down anything else, I’m just saying [Gears] is way more interesting to me. I don’t want to pretend like I’m actually interested in something I’m not when there’s something I’m actually really excited about. I don’t think there’s any harm in that. I’m not trying to step on anybody else’s toes, I’m just saying like this is what I love and I’m seriously passionate about this.”

Bautista further emphasized that the reason for rarely giving any flops is that he is too picky and choosy about his movie roles. And it’s all the result of the advice he once got from his fellow wrestler, Stone Cold Steve Austin. Austin cautioned Bautista that he could potentially receive offers for dreadful scripts that may come with tempting amounts, but he must avoid getting ‘caught in that trap’.

Looking at Bautista’s Hollywood journey, it could be said that taking up Austin’s advice turned out in his favor.

Dave Bautista has often expressed his willingness to get a role in Gears of War. The film adaptation of the video game Gears of War has been under development for quite a while. But recently, it was reported that there is little progress in the development of the film as Jon Spaihts has been hired by Netflix to write it. Now fans are eagerly waiting to know the cast of the film, but no such news has come out so far.

Gears of War is a live-action sci-fi film that is being adapted from the popular video game of the same name. The Gears of War series is about humanity’s fight against the Locust Horde on the planet Sera. Players follow Delta Squad, led by Marcus Fenix, as they battle to save their world.

The lead character, Fenix, is what Bautista is aiming to perform. Marcus Fenix possesses a giant structure, which isn’t normal for any human. Considering Bautista’s strikingly similar physical appearance, there is a great resemblance between the two, which makes Bautista a strong candidate for the role.
