Almost a decade after her initial Grammy nomination, Miley Cyrus has finally secured her first Grammy award. Cyrus picked up the big win over tough competition, beating out Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, Taylor Swift, and Olivia Rodrigo.

During her acceptance speech, Miley Cyrus expressed gratitude to several individuals for her Grammy win, but notably omitted mentioning her country musician father. After acknowledging her team, collaborators on the song, and Columbia Records, the 31-year-old singer gave a shoutout to her mother, Tish Cyrus, sister Brandi Cyrus, and boyfriend Maxx Morando, all of whom were present in the audience.

“Thank you all so much. I don’t think I forgot anyone but I might’ve forgotten underwear. Bye!”

This came off as very odd for people who have been following Miley Cyrus for years, as she always had a good relationship with Billy Ray Cyrus, as the two worked together on numerous projects in the past.

“The divorce between her parents have put a strain on her relationship with her dad and it’s been hard to connect with him in the last year,” the source revealed in 2022. “She hopes they can eventually work on their relationship.”

A second source reinforced the notion that the relationship between the Hannah Montana star and her dad was not the most harmonious at the time, emphasizing that Miley Cyrus “is very close with her mom and supportive of her.”

The insider also mentioned that in the months following her parents’ separation, Miley Cyrus had chosen to “take space and felt that was the healthiest thing to do for right now.” Nonetheless, it is a shame that Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus are no longer on the best of terms, as fans of the singers will always be sad.
