After an ill-fated Batman appearance, George Clooney had nearly given up on superhero movies that is until his much-talented Oscar-winning co-star Julia Roberts teased about them doing a superhero movie together. After the significant failure of the 1997’s Batman & Robin, Clooney had no hopes of returning to the silver screen in a cape, but during a red-carpet interview, the actor did entertain the thought of returning this time but with a special guest!

Julia Roberts doesn’t want to wear a cape if she ends up starring in a superhero movie anytime soon

During the release of the Julia Roberts and George Clooney film, Ticket to Paradise the duo gave a shot to the thought of starring in a future superhero movie. And were rather quick to draw out the details if they would have to by any chance. While speaking with Variety the superstar duo of long-time friends Clooney and Roberts suggested the idea of being in the movies, which are all the rage nowadays, and the two agreed to do so. So much so that the Academy Award-winning actress exclaimed, “Wouldn’t it be awesome,”, followed by an agreement of her friend Clooney stating, “We should do one — you and me!”

But this was soon followed by a hilarious confession that could make things difficult into bringing a superhero movie to life if anyone ever decides to. The actress chimed in saying,

And suggested a completely unique thought to battle the difficulty she just now posed with her demand stating,

Now, although this never-before-thought-of idea could hundred percent work, Clooney’s relationship with superhero movies in the past has been troubling, to say the least. Thus fans speculate that their impromptu idea would have to wait for the actor to be again ready at his heart to jump back into that mystical world.

Although, Julia Roberts doesn’t have any prior experience in ‘these kinds of films’, George Clooney does. He is well acquainted with the world of superheroes, having taken on the role of Bruce Wayne in the 1997 film Batman & Robin, which was unsuccessful in various ways. He himself has acknowledged that Batman & Robin played a significant role in nudging him in the correct direction,

“Up until that moment, I was an actor only concerned with finding work,—After the failure of that film creatively, I understood that I needed to take control of the films I made, not just the role. My next three films were Out of Sight, Three Kings and O Brother, Where Art Thou?”

The failure of this particular installment, which marked the fourth in the Batman film franchise impacted him so much that he laments it to this very day.

Since then he has deliberately steered clear of superhero films, declining the opportunity to play some big roles in the superhero industry from Nick Fury in the 1998 TV movie, Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., to The Dark Knight in an alternate universe for the DCEU. Thus, it can be said that his performance in the aforementioned movie still haunts him.  Although the damage has now been done, fans are wondering if the actor could start again with a clean slate.
