Speaking up about things you are not supposed to speak up about often leads to ostracization and Olivia Munn had a taste of it back in 2018. The actress starred in the 2018 released movie Predator. The movie featured many well-known actors, but not one of them initially voiced support for the actress when she spoke up about the director Shane Black hiring a registered s*x offender in a scene opposite her.

Not only was she disgusted but rather appalled at how people continue to be silent spectators over such issues. And that it is this silence that constitutes and leads to such incidents and issues.

The 2018 release Predator starred many amazing actors including Olivia Munn. For one scene, the director Shane Black hired his longtime friend Steven Wilder Striegel which featured him hitting on the Munn. However, what Munn did not know was that Striegel was a registered s*x offender, having had served jail time for his crime.

After she found out, the actress immediately contacted the studio, Fox, who deleted the scene and supported her. But for her co-stars, she was initially sidelined as if she had been the one in the wrong. In an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the actor said she just wanted to keep her co-stars informed,

However, later on, the studio personnel did not like her informing her co-stars and chastised her for revealing the issue. While many of her Predator co-stars then showed support and lauded her for her bravery, the actress was disturbed by her co-star’s initial lack of support.

“My cast members nobody sad anything to me about it. Nobody talked to me… At first, I thought maybe they didn’t know what to say and wanted to stay out of the way. But privately, I did feel iced out.”

While she understood that opening up to such topics can be hard for many, the Predator star stated that doesn’t change the fact that one should not call out wrongs or keep ignoring them.

This incident wasn’t the first and would certainly not be the last, but the real problem is when people, even after witnessing such incidents choose to keep quiet. And this is a sentiment Olivia Munn strongly expressed during her chat with Ellen DeGeneres.

“I think what’s really important for people to understand is that when you see something, you have to say something. However, it’s not going to be easy. And there will be people who just get mad at you for not playing the game.”

She added on,

“I think people expected me to be quiet because it was my movie. But the truth is, I don’t care if this movie gave me all the money in the world and all the power. If it cost one person’s life, they can take it. I don’t want this career.”

And so, even though it was her movie that might have been in a negative light, Olivia Munn speaking up against wrongs, and knowing the consequences this would have on her career proves how wonderful and inspiring the actress is.
