Sydney Sweeny made her way to the limelight with her role as Cassey in Euphoria. Through the two seasons of the HBO show the actress came on as a more mature and stunning performer. Other than the Hit HBO show she was also seen in The White Lotus with some stellar acting performances. Her body of work continues to grow and has always involved some form of nudity. Some sets were careful about her comfort and sensitive about it, while some were not and Sweeny talks about both types of shooting experience.

Sydney Sweeney has been involved in many intimate scenes and nudity in projects, especially in Euphoria. The actress expressed her relief as she shared a friendly relation Sam Levinson and could be open about her discomfort. The White Lotus star gushed while speaking with The Independent.

“Sam is amazing. There are moments when Cassie was supposed to be shirtless, and I would tell Sam, ‘I don’t really think that’s necessary here.’ He was like, ‘OK, we don’t need it.’ I’ve never felt like Sam has pushed it on me or was trying to get a nude scene into an HBO show. When I didn’t want to do it, he didn’t make me.”

The presence of an intimacy coordinator since the inception of the shoot and an understanding producer helped the actress feel secure and comfortable. This becomes essential, especially in times like this where women are gaining a voice and working towards creating a safe workplace for both genders.

Sydney Sweeny talks about her sour experiences shooting intimate scenes

The actress elucidates how many sets have been safe, compassionate, and sensitive about the scenes, and that made her happy. However, there have been some ugly instances where the nudity or intimate scenes did not go well. She talks to The Independent about one of the worst intimate scenes she shot,

“I’ve had experiences where I want to go home and scrub myself completely raw because I feel disgusting. I didn’t feel comfortable with my cast mate or the crew, and I just didn’t feel like my character would be doing it. That made me even more self-conscious. I didn’t feel like I was able to speak up.”

She told another outlet named NYLON about filming on Nocturnal

“The most uncomfortable scene, I would have to say, is the sex scene. I was actually really uncomfortable. It was funny because I kept all my clothes on, but I still felt uncomfortable. It was also one of the first days, I believe, so I hadn’t really gotten to know anyone or [scene partner] Jacques [Colimon], and it was just diving into this random scene, I was like, ahh.”

It is a high possibility that the project Sweeny is talking about is Nocturnal because when we put her first statement about intimate scenes and her experience with filming Nocturnal coincides. However, there is no way of being sure. Hopefully, Sweeny’s comments and openness about unsafe sets to shoot intimate scenes will raise awareness and help make shooting nudity and sex scenes safer for the actor and actresses involved.
