Michael Shannon Reflects on Ezra Miller Controversy

Michael Shannon is set to reprise his DC role in the upcoming film, The Flash. The film is set to release next month and is claimed to be a “big deal for Warner Bros.” However, despite getting rave reviews ahead of its release, it has been receiving quite the backlash as well, with many even calling for its boycott.

When Shannon was asked about his experience working with Ezra Miller. He shared that he is aware of the issues but also admitted that he does not keep track of everything. He said, “I know there’s been some issues.” He went on to describe the whole situation surrounding the actor as “horrible,” saying,

“Any time somebody is out in the spotlight getting picked on, I feel for them. Even if it’s warranted, it’s still a horrible situation.”

Talking about Ezra Miller, The Iceman star also said that his co-star was “lovely” and “very kind” to him. He further mentions that “it’s difficult to talk about” but he gives a lot of “slack in this business” because there are a lot of people in this business who also go through these issues.

Paul Austerberry Believes The Flash Can Ezra Miller’s Image

During an interview with CBC, the production designer of the upcoming DC film, Paul Austerberry, shared that he believes Miller’s work in The Flash could change their public image. He talked about how the Fantastic Beasts actor switched roles every few days and took only three days off during the entire shoot.

“People will forget that,” the Oscar-winning production designer said regarding Miller’s current reputation. He claimed that Miller worked under “a lot of pressure” as they worked “six days a week” and spent their weekends in stunt rehearsals. The Justice League actor has a history of run-ins in law dating back to 2020.

The issues were highlighted in 2022 after they faced multiple charges and accusations, including burglary, harassment, disorderly conduct, and second-degree assault. After this, Miller released a statement in August 2022, claiming to be suffering from “complex mental health issues.” They also said that they started to receive the needed treatment.

The Flash is set to release on June 16, 2023.
