Late actor, Marlon Brando won two Academy Awards in his career spanning over six decades. But, behind America’s most charismatic activist, stood a rather dark, and dirty player, who crossed several boundaries just to offer justice to a s*x scene in a 1972 drama. Brando received an Oscar nomination for Best Actor for his role as Paul in the Bernardo Bertolucci-directed film.

Chris Evans Rightly Destroyed Marlon Brando’s 1972 Movie Legacy!

Marlon Brando‘s, Last Tango in Paris (1972) made headlines for all the wrong reasons after its director, Bernardo Bertolucci’s 2013 video interview, wherein he admitted that neither he nor Brando (played Paul) told the then-19-year-old Maria Schneider (played Jeanne) about using a stick of butter during a s*x scene so she could react “as a girl not as an actress”.

“Wow. I will never look at this film, Bertolucci or Brando the same way again. “I feel rage”.

Jessica Chastain also voiced her support for Schneider, stating she felt “sick” that the Oscar-winning Italian director “planned her attack.” In this manner, the movie’s legacy was rightly destroyed. Brando and Schneider had already passed away by then, while Bertolucci died in 2018.

Maria Scheider, who passed away in 2011 after a long battle with cancer, had already revealed shocking details in a 2007 interview, but many remained tight-lipped about her brutal experience. The actress said:

“The scene wasn’t in the original script. Brando had come up with the idea, and I was told only right before they had to film that part. I was so angry. Marlon said to me: ‘Maria, don’t worry, it’s just a movie.”

Even though what Marlon was doing wasn’t real, I was crying real tears. I felt humiliated and to be honest, I felt a little r*ped, both by Marlon and by Bertolucci. After the scene, Marlon didn’t console me or apologize. Thankfully, there was just one take.”

Marlon Brando used butter as lubricant before forcing himself on Maria in the scene. Back then, the actress wanted to call her lawyer, but at the time, she didn’t know what to do. Well, no one, including Vito Corleone, seemed to care back then!
