Not so long ago, Amy Schumer, primarily known for her comedic skills, was trolled for her appearance on the internet. This is not a new thing for the internet to do. Judging people by their appearances is possibly one of the things that netizens like to do on social media regardless of how it might affect the individual about whom they have started the discourse.

The most recent victim of this troll culture on the internet is actress and standup comedian Amy Schumer, whose puffy face became a matter of discussion across the internet. She has finally opened up about those comments and revealed the reason behind the puffy appearance of her face.

One would think that in today’s world, word of inclusivity and awareness, people would be a little kinder to each other and not judge others based on their physical appearance. But that does not seem to be the case as Amy Schumer received some rather brutal comments on her face post her appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and The View earlier this month.

Schumer has recently revealed that she has been diagnosed with Cushing Syndrome, a condition caused by excessive cortisol. This news comes after the actress’ response to the comments that her face appeared puffier than normal.

The Trainwreck actress told Jessica Yellin in the journalist’s News Not Noise newsletter:

“I feel reborn. There are a few types of Cushing. Some that can be fatal, require brain surgery or removal of adrenal glands.”

Schumer went on to say that while she was doing press for the second season of her Hulu show, Life & Beth, she would have to be in MRI machines for four hours at a time. The amount of blood drawn from her veins made them shut down, and at one point, she thought she might not be there to watch her son grow up.

Not so long ago, Amy Schumer had responded to fans talking about her puffy appearance in an Instagram post. This was before she revealed her diagnosis of Cushing syndrome. She wrote:

“Thank you so much for everyone’s input about my face! I’ve enjoyed feedback and deliberation about my appearance as all women do for almost 20 years.”

Judging actors, specifically female actors, by their appearance is not new. It has been there for as long as the existence of the industry. Schumer also told Jessica Yellin the reason why she was publicly revealing her diagnosis. She said:

“The shaming and criticism of our ever-changing bodies is something I have dealt with and witnessed for a long time. I want so much for women to love themselves and be relentless when fighting for their own health in a system that usually doesn’t believe them.”

This revelation must be a little shocking for the fans who made misogynistic and cruel comments about Amy Schumer’s appearance. Here is to hoping that they will not do it again to another actress.
