Laurence Fox could have gone on the tracks of his ancestors and family in showbiz by establishing for himself a splendid film career. But it seems his far-right leanings, attempts to enter politics, and often allegedly controversial statements about delicate topics like racism, religion, and COVID-19 lockdowns have trapped him into a web of his own making.

Whether he would be able to escape it seems hardly unlikely, given the recent ruling against him in a libel case with two people he referred to as pedophiles on Twitter/X. Finding him guilty of being defamatory, Fox was quick to take to social media following the judgment and expressed how he felt totally hopeless.

Popularly called and referred to as a Nepo Baby, Laurence Fox comes from an affluent Fox family, whose ancestors, cousins, and uncles can be found well-established in the acting business. A self-proclaimed anti-woke artist, he has often made alleged controversial remarks including about his fellow actors who come from non-acting families (via Vice).

However, his recent loss in a libel case feels like a nail in the coffin for he himself expressed that it has cost him his career in his recent Twitter/X post. Back in October 2020, the My Son Hunter actor had called out and stated that he would be boycotting a UK grocery store called Sainsbury for being supportive of racial segregation and discrimination by offering to provide a safe space for their Black employees during Black History Month (via THR).

In response, Simon Blake, an ex-LGBT charity trustee, and Colin Seymour also known as Crystal, a former RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant and a drag artist, called out Fox for being racist. In turn, the actor went on to call them and other users pedophiles.

And in a ruling delivered on Monday by a High Court in the UK, after Blake and Seymour sued him for defamation and Fox himself counter-sued them, Fox’s labeling was found seriously harmful, defamatory, and baseless.

However, his counterclaim that his reputation was at serious risk after being called racist was dismissed by the court. As for the ruling on damages and other remedies, if any, it would be discussed by the court at a later date (via The Guardian).

Even during the trial, Laurence Fox made several allegedly controversial remarks, as reported by The Guardian. From describing the Black Lives Movement as a Ponzi scheme to labeling anti-right white racism as the only acceptable form of racism, there were several incidents in which people found an offense.

After the ruling, the Nepo Baby went on to Twitter/X and expressed how heartbreaking he had been feeling and considering an appeal.

“If losing your entire career does not meet the threshold for serious harm, then I don’t know what does… What the court has decided is that if you are called a racist and you lose your job, you cannot fight back. You cannot defend yourself. You just have to suck it up… I have to believe the justice system will find the right way in the end. Regardless of this belief, I feel utterly bereft and totally hopeless.”

While many netizens in the comments of his X post stated his career-ending was the result of his own doing, this legal defeat of his is not the only setback he has received ever since his rise as an actor
