Emma Watson on Persuing an Acting Career

I’ve been saying that I wanted to go to university since I was eleven, so if they didn’t let me, I’d be pretty upset,” she said. During an earlier interview, Watson shared her excitement to join college and further pursue her studies.

However, she did not seem to share the same excitement for her acting career. “There’s not, like, a burning passion in me that I have to act, and I don’t care what I do,” she said. And she also mentioned what type of characters she looked forward to playing in the future.

The Harry Potter cast, including its lead star Daniel Radcliffe, have worked hard to break out the Harry Potter image. It has been the same for his co-star Emma Watson as well, as she has also portrayed a number of varied characters on the screen.

However, having spent a decade playing the same character, she worried that her Harry Potter role might make her way into her new ventures as well. The actress has shared that she has played multiple characters, including a “crazy LA valley girl, a biblical girl, an American high school girl, an 18th century period girl,” but she still worried that “all that’s going to come out Hermione.” Watson was last seen in the HBO Harry Potter special after her last on-screen appearance in the 2019 film The Little Women.
