Spice Girl’s Mel B Fought For Justice After Eddie Murphy Humiliated Her

In the first episode of Melanie Brown’s own TV show, Mel B: It’s A Scary World, she opened up about her dark past and how she fought hard to get the justice she and her daughter deserved. The ex-Spice Girl said (via Daily Mail):

Angel is three-and-a-half, and I didn’t expect her real biological father to all of a sudden pop back in our lives. I think because in my mind I fought so hard for justice at the very beginning of my pregnancy.”

Mel B dealt with a lot of horrible comments from people accusing her of lying and telling the world that Eddie Murphy was the father of her child. She added:

I was like, hanging my head in shame because people were like, ‘Oh is that the father or isn’t it?’ I knew what I knew. I had people calling me a gold digger, saying I got pregnant on purpose. It was a horrible time.”

Despite the trauma of the past, Mel B and Murphy finally buried the hatchet, and the actor started seeing his child. He even invited them to the red carpet of Shrek Forever After premiere. Still, the Spice World star was hesitant to accept the invitation:

I thought, do I really want to be on red carpet yet again, entertaining everyone else’s world, like, ‘Oh we’re a happy family’ and ‘Eddie’s back in our life’? It brings up all that pain and all that hurt that I went through by myself, pregnant.”

She confessed feeling ecstatic knowing her child had finally met her dad. Mel B said that she was supportive of the idea that they should have a father-daughter relationship:

When the results of the DNA test came in, and Angel was, in fact, no surprise, Eddie Murphy’s child, I encouraged their relationship from day one.”

Mel B revealed that her child and Murphy got to know each other, and they used to meet behind closed doors to avoid paparazzi.

After all the trouble, Mel B and Eddie Murphy formed a cordial relationship and agreed to co-parent amid their busy schedule. In 2018, a source told People that the Beverly Hills Cop star has been an “amazing father” to Angel Iris:

They all have a very good relationship. He always makes sure to get them involved with Angel. She had something at her school recently and a number of her siblings turned out to support her. She texts Eddie and is on the phone with him all the time.”

Mel B is now engaged to her boyfriend of three years, Rory McPhee. The singer also previously announced that the Spice Girls will return for a mystery project that will feature all five original members.
