The outing of Harvey Weinstein as a s*xual predator was one of the most revolutionary moments for women in the workplace. It encouraged women to speak out against powerful men who had been walking free after exploiting their co-workers. The Weinstein effect or the MeToo movement played an important role in making the workplace a lot more safer for women.
Harvey Weinstein was convicted of two felony charges in New York and sentenced to 23 years in prison. He was also convicted of three charges in Los Angeles for which he was sentenced to 16 years, to be served after his New York jail time. Several actresses came out against the producer’s misconduct, and one of them was Lena Headey.
Lena Headey Was One Of The Brave Survivors Of Harvey Weinstein’s Assault Twice
Lena Headey is known to many as the Queen of Seven Kingdoms, the villainous Cersei Lannister, in Game of Thrones. Headey secured the leading role in Brothers Grimm, which was produced by Miramax Films, founded by Bob and Harvey Weinstein. The director of the film, Terry Gilliam, wanted to cast Samantha Morton, however, the Weinsteins insisted on casting a conventionally beautiful actress, finally settling for Headey.
The 300 actress met Harvey Weinstein for the first time at the premiere of Brothers Grimm at the Venice Film Festival. Headey shared on Twitter in 2017 about her unsettling encounters with the convicted s*x offender. At the Venice Film Festival, Weinstein made s*xually suggestive comments, which were immediately shut down by the Ripley’s Game actress. Headey shared on Twitter:

The Imagine Me & You actress was determined not to act in any other Miramax Films, as she felt uncomfortable with Weinstein’s approach. However, when the producer insisted Headey discuss a script, she met with him in Los Angeles. It was one of the most traumatic experiences in Headey’s life.
Lena Headey Boldly Rejected Harvey Weinstein’s S*xual Advances
Harvey Weinstein’s true color came out as a dangerous predator to Lena Headey when she met him in Los Angeles. The Dredd actress believed that since she rejected his advances the first time, Weinstein would not try misbehaving with her. She was wrong in her assumption as Weinstein tried to lure her into his room under the pretense of showing her a movie script.
Headey shared that she felt utterly powerless at the time. But the Mrs Dalloway actress gathered the courage to get herself out of the situation unharmed. The Broken actress went on high alert and made it clear to Weinstein that she would not comply with his advances. Weinstein escorted her back to her car and blackmailed her not to tell anyone. Headey wrote in her tweet, “I felt completely powerless. […] I got into my car and I cried.” The Contractor actress’s full tweet read:

Harvey Weinstein’s history of harassment accusations dates back to the 1970s, with over 100 actresses speaking out against him. Weinstein subjected women to trauma for decades while maintaining his image as a top producer.
Moreover, Weinstein had silenced many women, some of whom may not have come forward yet to keep themselves away from the spotlight.
