“When I did my screen test for School Ties with Matt Damon I was pretty fresh out of the academy and it was a test, you know? You’re challenged for a reason to see if you have a place in this world, in this medium, in this format. And I’ve got to say it was Matt I matched pitch with. I just knew inherently not copy him, but run alongside, shoulder to shoulder. And I think it worked, I got the job. So I have him to thank for that.”

The actor further revealed that he was the only one left for the auditions, as everyone else had already been chosen. Perhaps that’s the reason he chose to follow Damon’s lead since Damon was also already part of the film.

Brendan Fraser and Matt Damon have one thing in common, and that’s the tag of Oscar winner. For Fraser, Damon is not just his inspiration; he is someone with whom he shares a great level of comfort. So much that he once got n*ked with him for a scene. Fraser’s breakthrough film, School Ties, brought many challenges to his life.

Facing such challenges, especially at the initial stage of a career, can be overwhelming, but not when you have the support of a friend. During an interview, Fraser shared that, while filming School Ties, there was a scene in which he had to go n*ked. Referring to the scene he said,

“I appreciated that this isn’t really for wow or a scintillating factor of going, ‘Hey, look at that. N*ked people. The point of it was that when Damon’s character says what he says about David, he just reveals who he is. His anti-Semitism and his prejudice are stripped down n*ked and it’s ugly.”

A person indeed needs a lot of confidence for such portrayals; however, an actor goes to any extent to fulfill the demands of his character. Both Damon and Fraser nailed their performances in the film.
