The Willis family is no stranger to the scrutiny that comes with being a celebrity family in Hollywood. But this latest development goes far beyond tabloid rumors about famous people. Bruce Willis, known for his intense action roles, has stoked a desire for what he calls “male energy.”

Taking Willis’ five daughters, his wife, Emma Heming Willis, his ex-wife Demi Moore and his mother, Helen Willis, it’s understandable why the Die Hard actor would want a male member aside from himself in the family.

In a move that has raised more than a few eyebrows and chuckles, he has openly expressed his desire for a grandson to add diversity to the family dynamic. Rumer Willis, the eldest daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, does not share her father’s desire for a grandson.

In 2020, the actress discussed her thoughts on establishing a solid relationship with a partner before starting a family on an episode of The Talk.

“I think it’s so important not to rush in and have it be about the lust or about, you know, that immediate connection, then building a real foundation.”

While the family joked about the lack of “male energy,” Rumer Willis is more concerned with finding true love than continuing the Willis name.

“Even my dad puts pressure on me. Over the quarantine he was like, ‘So I’d like for you to have a son because I need some male energy in this group.’”

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Rumer Willis, her sisters, and their mothers were quarantined, creating an atmosphere conducive to open communication and bonding.

With a wink and a joke, The Sixth Sense pointed out that the family’s preponderance of female energy could use some balance.

“It’s a lot of women, obviously. He has five daughters and my mom and my stepmom. There’s just a lot of female energy. Even then, I’m like, OK, I want to make sure who I do that with.”

Rumer Willis added a touch of humor to her story about her father’s playful pressure. She made a light-hearted remark about how Bruce Willis would be first in line to “kidnap” her son if she ever had one.

“But even still, if I have a son, I guarantee you guys, my dad would somehow try to come in and kidnap him, hijack the child, try and take him away.”

While it may have been a hot topic about having “male energy” around, the once serious conversation seems to have taken a backseat. Earlier this year, the Unbreakable star had to take an early retirement from acting because of his diagnosis of Frontotemporal Dementia.

Since then, the family has focused on recuperating the actor’s health by sticking together through this tough time. However, recently Rumer Willis gave birth to a baby girl with boyfriend Derek Richard Thomas.

As a first-time grandfather, but a pro for being a girl dad, Willis embraces his growing family through his deteriorating health. Whether or not the Willis family will ever have the “male energy” Bruce Willis desired is yet to be known.
