Since his breakthrough role as a child actor in Steven Spielberg’s Empire of the Sun, Christian Bale has proved his mettle as a compelling actor to watch on screen. The actor has starred in some of the best films of the 21st century and has earned immense respect from his contemporaries and the filmmakers he has worked with.
The actor has many admirers among his fellow actors who have collaborated with him on various projects. However, Charlie’s Angels star Drew Barrymore has an interesting history with Bale and admitted to dumping the actor when they were kids.
Drew Barrymore is Still Attracted To Christian Bale Despite Dumping Him
Christian Bale was a rising young actor back in the 80s and made his mark in Steven Spielberg’s Empire of the Sun. Another young actress Drew Barrymore also made her breakthrough in another Spielberg film some years back which was E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. The two actors crossed paths sometime during their teens and they dated for a brief time.
However, Barrymore did not call back Bale after going out on a date together as he told GQ that “she never called again”. Barrymore was asked about this in an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. She admitted that she was occupied with a lot of personal problems in her life and she did not take much interest in boys. She said,
“I had a lot of fish to fry, like I had big problems in my world for many years, like in good ways — things you gotta overcome . . . boys were like very secondary,”
Barrymore stated in another interview that she “might go overboard and embarrass myself.” (via Irish Examiner) if she met Bale now. It seems the actress still has some feelings for Bale even though they have moved on in life. Bale is now happily married to Sibi Blazic since 2000 and Barrymore is now single.

“I take great pride in young actors who started off doing films with me and have then made careers for themselves. Nothing Christian Bale does has ever failed to impress me.
He is fearless and he was fearless when he was 12 years old. I am impressed more and more with each role he takes. But in a quiet place in my own life, I’ll say, ‘That’s my boy.'”
As of 2024, Bale will soon start shooting Maggie Gyllenhaal’s adaptation of Frankenstein where he will play Frankenstein’s monster. He will also reunite with Bradley Cooper on the spy thriller Best of Enemies, which Cooper might direct.
