One of the most established actors in the industry, Jeffrey Dean Morgan also went through something similar when he appeared in a single episode of Star Trek: Enterprise and almost gave up on acting before portraying his iconic role of Denny Duquette in Grey’s Anatomy.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan talked about appearing on Star Trek: Enterprise

Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been quite vocal about his stand on appearing as Xindi-Reptilian in a single episode of Star Trek: Enterprise. The actor even described the role as a ‘job that made him almost quit acting.‘ Morgan once appeared for an interview on First We Feast’s Hot Ones episode, and revealed why he almost quit acting after playing the role only in one episode. He said,

“It turns out I’m claustrophobic. I had a really hard time doing the makeup process, and I had straws in my nose,” Morgan explained. “I’ve never been on a set where I went home at night and just thought, ‘What am I doing? I’ve made the worst fucking decision of my life. I don’t ever want to be an actor again.’ Like, I was sure that this was just wrong, and it almost made me quit. It was, it was horrible.”

However, he did not quit and went on to play many iconic roles like Denny Duquette in Grey’s Anatomy and Negan in The Walking Dead.

The Walking Dead actor talked about the role that changed his life

Although the character was all the time in bed, Jeffrey Dean Morgan still loved to play the role of Denny Duquette in Grey’s Anatomy. The actor once talked about when he found out that he was only going to appear in 23 episodes of the series and he actually begged the writer, Shonda Rhimes, to not kill off his character. He said,

“Grey’s Anatomy, I knew was something special. That’s the one time that I saw my death coming and was trying anything I could to get out of that death.That character Denny and that love story with Izzie took the world by storm. I knew how fu**ing lucky I was to be there and I was like, ‘Please don’t kill me.’ I did, I begged. That’s what changed my life.”

The actor further talked about how his role in Grey’s Anatomy helped him in getting picked by Zack Snyder to play the role of Edward Blake aka The Comedian in the movie, Watchmen. 

Jeffrey Dean Morgan recently reprised his role as Negan in The Walking Dead: Dead City in the first episode of the series came out yesterday.
