Before making his return to the big screen as Indiana Jones, Harrison Ford joined the cast of the Western drama 1923, which premiered in December last year. The show follows a generation of the Dutton family facing multiple challenges during the early 20th century. The prequel to the 2018 drama Yellowstone also marks the reunion of Ford with his The Mosquito Coast co-star Helen Mirren, who played his wife, Cara Dutton, in the 2022 Western drama.
And the actress has shared that she was looking forward to filming bedroom scenes with her co-star in the TV series, as she gushed about Ford during The Wrap’s 2023 Awards Season Screening Series.
Helen Mirren Was Excited to Film Bedroom Scenes With Harrison Ford
Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren first starred in the 1986 drama The Mosquito Coast, in which they portrayed a married couple. They developed a close bond while working on Peter Weir’s drama film, and both of them were excited to share the screen for the 2022 Western drama 1923.
However, the Fast X star has shared that she was enthusiastic about more than just working on another project with the Indiana Jones star. During The Wrap’s 2023 Awards Season Screening Series, Mirren shared that she was “excited” to film the scenes where the on-screen couple shared some intimate moments.
“I had to be in the bed with him, you know. But I’m lying there, and I’m thinking, ‘I’m in bed with Harrison Ford,'” she said. The 77-year-old actress also shared that she couldn’t contain her excitement and had to pretend to be calm.
She further praised her co-star for his down-to-earth nature despite being one of the biggest Hollywood stars. “He’s come to a place where he can be easy with other actors,” she said as she called him generous and incredibly professional. However, the fondness is not one-sided, as Ford also gushed over his co-star during an appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.
Harrison Ford Said His 1923 Co-Star is Still Sexy
Talking about his co-star Helen Mirren during his appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Harrison Ford said that she is “still sexy.” He also shared that her being on the Paramount series was also one of the reasons he joined the cast in 1923.
He said that Mirren is a talented actress as she praised the Academy Award-winning actress. “It’s been remarkable to watch her. There’s a lot of physical action, and she just jumps right in and does stuff you don’t imagine Helen Mirren would do. Dame Helen Mirren,” he said.
The co-stars do not get enough of praising each other, as The Queen actress has earlier shared that she was “very intimidated” by Ford’s resume before starring alongside him in the 1986 film, as he had been cast in popular franchises, including Star Wars and Blade Runner.
