In under 28 days of hitting Netflix, Susanne Bier’s Bird Box (2018) made history as it became the most-watched film. After almost five years, the film has managed to secure the third spot after Red Notice (2021) and Don’t Look Up (2021), according to MovieWeb.

Despite the audience cheering for the lead actress Sandra Bullock for her top-tier realistic performance, she has another story to tell. According to her, filming Bird Box took a toll on her in more ways than one.

Her co-star Sarah Paulson joined in and corroborated the statements that Bullock gave in her conversation with PEOPLE magazine.

The film focused on Bullock’s and Paulson’s characters as they are on the move in a terrifying environment where a mysterious supernatural being has wreaked havoc and their only hope – a blindfold!

Susanne Bier did a phenomenal job scaring the life out of the audience, even though choosing not to reveal the actual monster. Sandra Bullock recalled being immensely scared of the eerie feeling while on the set.

According to PEOPLE –

“I don’t like to be scared. I hate being scared,” she said. “I hate, hate people who think it’s funny to stand behind doors and scare you because they know that you hate being scared.”

Sandra Bullock being blindfolded in the film only added to her fears. She discovered not being able to see but hear the imaginary entity spooked her down to the core.

Susanne Bier came forward with her explanation to Bloody Disgusting, that the ghost character tapped into the darkest fears of the ones who saw it. And that mystery gave chills to Bullock.
