While it is somewhat common to see fanbases of two different manga and anime pouring fire on each other casually around the internet, it is rarely the case that the creator of a series will openly declare their dislike for another series or its creator; and is even rarer when creators of massive series like One Piece, Naruto, Dragon Ball, and Bleach do the same.

Creator Of Bleach Admits To Hating Eiichiro Oda

In an interview on a Japanese public radio show, Oda revealed how he felt when Kubo made that statement in public. The creator of One Piece disclosed that he did not find the mangaka to be rude when he made that statement, and instead appreciated Kubo for having enough audacity to make such a statement.

He went on to compliment Kubo’s drawing and storytelling skills and even invited the creator of Bleach out to have a drink sometime.

Context To Tite Kubo’s Statement

While on the surface, it might seem like Tite Kubo disrespected a fellow mangaka, however, there is more to the story than one might think.

The creator of Bleach was asked by his editor to make his manga more like One Piece, to which he gave an exaggerated response claiming how he hates Oda, something which was taken as humor by everybody at the time, including the show hosts.

Eiichiro Oda most probably knew about this fact already, causing him to take the “I hate Oda” claim light-heartedly and humorously. Oda has also often claimed how he has been annoyed by his editors and how he sees where Tite Kubo stood when he made the statement.
