For the better part of last year, DC fans have been wondering when John Cena as Peacemaker will be back after the splendid season 1 of the show of the same name. With James Gunn rebooting the entire DC Universe, fans were even more concerned if the show would get canceled due to the different storylines and narratives of Gunn’s DCU and Zack Snyder’s DCEU.
However, the DC helmer recently confirmed on the popular social media website, Threads, that he is still developing the show and that Peacemaker Season 2 will be based on Snyder’s blueprint of DCEU despite the whole reboot.
John Cena’s Peacemaker Season 2 To Be Based On DCEU Blueprint
The John Cena starrer Peacemaker was widely hailed as one of the, if not the best, superhero-based TV shows of all time. Blunt and creative, DC fans have been desperately waiting for season 2 of the show for quite a long while now. While James Gunn has confirmed that the show is not shelved due to DC’s entire reboot, he also confirmed it will be based on Zack Snyder‘s DCEU blueprint.
While on the Threads app recently, DC’s new head was asked by a fan
Is season 2 gonna be totally different than season 1 cause of the reboot? Or is it only gonna have slight changes?
To which James Gunn replied,
You’ll have to wait and see how that works out!
Still curious, another fan asked why have a season 2 set up in a different universe instead of just putting together a whole new show. And not disappointing the plethora of DC fans, Gunn stated,
Because it’s my favorite thing to do, it’s the biggest original Max show ever, and I have a way in. It won’t be confusing.
Well, James Gunn is known to be a master storyteller, and we can hardly wait to witness what he has in store for us in Peacemaker season 2.

What All We Know About Peacemaker Season 2
John Cena will be returning as Christopher Smith, aka Peacemaker, in season 2 soon. Being in the developing stage still, James Gun previously confirmed that season 2 will only be released after Superman: Legacy, which is not slated to be released until July 11, 2025.
Despite delays and the strikes, Gunn had also previously stated that Superman: Legacy will not be delayed further, so while fans will probably have to wait more than a year, it is good to know Cena will be back as Smith after rumors that the show might be canceled due to DC reboot.
Written and directed by Gunn himself, the show is supposed to have just 7 episodes, although which cast member apart from Cena will return is still not known. As for its narrative, Gunn has already confirmed it will probably be a bit of both, the old DCEU and Gunn’s new rebooted DC mythos. Furthermore, DC’s upcoming series, Waller, can also provide major easter eggs about Peacemaker season 2’s storyline (via ScreenRant).
Meanwhile, Peacemaker season 1 can be streamed on Max.
