And it seems that the 47-year-old was no exception. There were hints that she often tried to grab hold of the directing reins herself.
Doug Liman, the director of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, found himself at odds with Jolie during the filming of the movie, Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
Liman recounted how she expressed her concern that he would only use his preferred version in the editing room. He explained,
“When I was shooting a scene on Mr & Mrs. Smith and I had one idea of how the scene should play out . . . Angelina Jolie had a different idea. I said, OK, we could sit here and argue, but we’re wasting time, let’s just shoot it both ways.”
Further, the director added,
“And she was like, But, then you’ll just use your way, in the editing room. And I was like, well, I am the director. I might. But I’m going to use the way that’s best for the movie. I have no ego in this.”
Interestingly, Liman had nothing but praise for other actors he worked with, like Tom Cruise, the world’s-highest paid star. He described Cruise would be just like,
“You want it upside down? Right, side up? I’ll give it to you every possible way for the editing room.”

Doug Liman Was Not The Only One To Criticzed Angelina Jolie
The Hollywood actress known for her critically acclaimed performances and commercial success, had a rough encounter with industry producer Scott Rudin, according to leaked Sony Pictures emails.
The incident unfolded when Jolie expressed displeasure upon learning that David Fincher was chosen to direct a Steve Jobs biopic instead of a Cleopatra remake in which she would star.
The leaked email chain between Rudin and then-Sony president Amy Pascal revealed the producer’s frustration with Jolie’s insistence on having Fincher direct her film, despite the 64-year-old’s desire for Fincher to focus on the Steve Jobs project.
In a heated exchange, Rudin referred to Jolie as a minimally talented spoiled brat and expressed his unwillingness to collaborate with her on a movie that she would run. He said,
“I’m not destroying my career over a minimally talented spoiled brat who thought nothing of shoving this off her plate for eighteen months so she could go direct a movie … I have no desire to be making a movie with her, or anybody, that she runs and that we don’t.”
