Hollywood veteran Harrison Ford’s name is synonymous with the beloved Star Wars character Han Solo. It is no secret that the portrayal of this character catapulted the actor to unprecedented fame. Luckily, it worked out in the favor of both the actor and the fan-favorite character.
Although Star Wars is not the only franchise that Harrison Ford led (he did it for the Indiana Jones franchise), it has a place among some of his biggest accomplishments as an actor. Despite this, answering nerdy questions about the franchise does not seem to be Ford’s cup of tea. A particular moment during an interview proves this point effectively.
Harrison Ford is Not Good at Answering Nerdy Questions about Star Wars
The Fugitive actor’s character Han Solo died in the 2015 Star Wars movie The Force Awakens. However, director J. J. Abrams found a way to bring the actor back once again in the 2019 Star Wars movie The Rise of Skywalker.
However, Disney pulled a Marvel card as it kept the news of Han Solo’s return in the latter movie under tight wraps until the movie’s release. It was obviously a pleasant surprise for the fans of the character. Han Solo appears for a brief scene in the movie in which he lures his son Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) to turn away from the dark side.
However, a crucial question that arose with Solo’s return was that if it was a Force ghost or a projection conjured by Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher). When asked about the possibility of the former, Ford’s answer was rather hilarious as he told USA Today:
“A Force ghost? I don’t know what a Force ghost is. Don’t tell anyone. I’m not talking loud enough for your recorder. I have no fucking idea what a Force ghost is. And I don’t care.”
Some fans were taken aback by this answer because they hoped that Ford actually cared about the franchise that made him so big. The point to be noted here is that this was perhaps only the actor’s way of shutting down the rumors.
Harrison Ford Was Shocked About His Return as Han Solo
Harrison Ford is undoubtedly one of the best actors in Hollywood. He has starred as the lead actor in some rather great movies in his career spanning nearly six decades. From Blade Runner to Sabrina, Ford has appeared in movies of several different genres over the years. Even so, when he got the chance to return to Han Solo, he did not let go of it.
Speaking to USA Today, Ford revealed how he was shocked that he could return as Han Solo in The Rise of Skywalker. He said:
“When JJ asked me to do it, I said, ‘Are you kidding? I’m dead!’ He said, ‘Sorta dead. You can do this.’ He hadn’t written anything at that time. But he said, ‘This is going to be great.’ So I said okay.”
