Christian Bale Lashed Out at His Family Members Ahead of The Dark Knight Premiere
In 2008, Hollywood actor Christian Bale reportedly lashed out at his mother and sister ahead of the premiere of his superhero film The Dark Knight. Reports state that the alleged incident happened at Dorchester Hotel, London, where he was staying ahead of the film’s premiere in London’s West End.
The actor reportedly got into an altercation with his mother and sister over a long-running family dispute. However, it was also stated that the argument happened over the actor’s wife, Sibi Blazic. His sister even accused the actor of shoving his mother during the altercation.
Another reason behind the fight has been claimed to be money, however, nothing has been specified. The Vice actor was brought in by police for questioning and was later released without any charges after his family withdrew their statements.
Crown Prosecution Service issued a statement, saying that there was “insufficient evidence to afford a realistic prospect of conviction.” Christian Bale’s publicist also shared that the issue has been resolved. Describing the incident as a “deeply personal matter,” they asked for the family’s privacy.
While the issues were resolved at the time, the tension among the family members prevailed, as Bale’s mother shared that her son did not talk to her for years following the 2008 incident.
Christian Bale Did Not Talk to His Mother For Years After the Incident
The 2008 incident caused a fallout between Christian Bale and his mother, Jenny James, and sister, Sharon Bale. And his mother has opened up about how the Hollywood star ignored her frequent attempts to contact him. She shared that she often went to his film premieres in the hope of speaking to him.
“I have tried nearly every day to get back in touch,” Jenny James said in 2014, as per The Mirror. She also admitted to sending him emails and cards for his 40th birthday, hoping to hear back from him. But she did not get a reply.
Despite his mother’s constant efforts, Bale was relentless and did not contact her. “It would be lovely if we could meet up. The ball is in his court,” she said before adding, “Six years is long enough. It’s sad for me. It’s sad for him, too.”
And the family feud finally ended in 2019, when Bale was in London for the EE BAFTAs, where he received a Best Actor nomination for his portrayal of Dick Cheney in Vice. “Yes, we are talking. I know Christian is in London,” his mother told The Mirror, expressing her happiness to get back in touch with her son.
However, there is not much available about his relationship with his sister, Sharon Bale, who reportedly suggested that her brother needs help to deal with his temper following the leak of his rant from the set of Terminator Salvation.
