Sean Connery’s Controversial Comment About Slapping Women

Sean Connery sat down for an interview with Playboy in 1965. During the interview, he stated that it’s alright to hit a woman as long as it’s not done the same way one would hit a man. He shared that he does not think that there is anything wrong with hitting a woman, as he recommended not “doing it in the same way that you’d hit a man.”

The First Knight actor further tried to justify his statement, saying that it should be done only if other alternatives and warnings fail. He went on to add that he would follow these measures if a woman is “a b*tch, or hysterical, or bloody-minded continually.”

And he was firm on his opinions even more than two decades later. During his 1987 interview with Barbara Walters, the actor reflected on his earlier statements, saying, “I haven’t changed my opinion.” He stated that there are situations when women can be “really provocative.”

And he believes that it would be the “absolutely right” thing to slap or hit a woman in such situations.
