I hope we get Cage and Affleck in Secret Wars,” tweeted one fan, perfectly summing up the collective disappointment of millions. Yep, Deadpool & Wolverine was already a dream come true, but it turns out, it could’ve been even crazier.

The movie’s writers, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, confirmed they were seriously considering bringing back both Cage and Affleck, but sadly, it didn’t pan out (via CBR). For Affleck’s Daredevil, the writers just decided to cut him. And for Cage’s Ghost Rider? Reynolds admitted they talked about it, but it never materialized.

Deadpool & Wolverine would’ve been even bigger with the addition of these two casts. Was it a massive missed opportunity? Not completely, though. The story looked complete and the cameos were at its ponts. Above all, the movie rocked the box office.

With Secret Wars looming, hope is still alive for these iconic characters. Fans are already clamoring for a do-over with Affleck’s Daredevil and Cage’s Ghost Rider.

While the Merc with a Mouth’s latest flick was a blast, it seems the movie gods had a twisted sense of humor. Fans are still reeling from the news that Ben Affleck’s Daredevil and Nicolas Cage’s Ghost Rider were cut from the final edit. Two of the most iconic comic book characters, sidelined!
