Salma Hayek’s affection for orphaned animals has led to amusing yet heartwarming family disputes with her husband, Francois Henri Pinault. In 2015 while on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Hayek revealed that she had found an abandoned puppy and couldn’t resist rescuing it.
“I just couldn’t take it. I had to take this abandoned puppy that was gonna die If I didn’t take him.”

Hayek’s husband, Francois Henri Pinault, was no stranger to her affinity for animals. The Hollywood celeb shared on The Tonight Show that as her love for animals grew, the number of four-legged occupants in their home. Francois Henri Pinault, affectionately known as “Mr. No More Dogs” in the Hayek-Pinault household, had reached his limit.
“But my husband has threatened me, ‘please no more dogs.’ So I came up with a brilliant plan.”
The Mexican-American actress ignored her husband’s plea and went ahead with her plan to test the limits of his trust and love by introducing a new puppy to the family.
Salma Hayek Had The Talk With Her Husband
Salma Hayek was aware of the fact that her plan required perfect execution. She must develop a persuasive storyline that deeply moves her husband’s emotions while planting seeds of doubt in his mind. The actress shared with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show that this is when she began to initiate “the talk.”
“I called him and said, ‘We need to talk.’ And I said, ‘Listen, this breaks my heart to tell you this news because I know I am going to disappoint you. And it’s been very hard for me to come up with the courage to say this to you. But I cannot take it any longer, I have to tell you. And you just have to understand that I have been here working so much. I have been so tired, so overwhelmed, so lonely… I am so overworked and you don’t think straight in this moment of madness.'”
To her surprise, the actress’ reveals on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that her husband knew her far too well and asked if she had got home another dog.
“He goes, ‘Oh please don’t tell me you picked up another dog.'”
Salma Hayek’s love for animals ultimately won out, and the adorable new puppy found a loving home with a family who already adored their furry companions. Although Francois Henri Pinault was initially hesitant, he couldn’t ignore his wife’s dedication to her four-legged friends and ultimately welcomed the new addition with open arms.
