Michelle Pfeiffer’s Scandalous Affair With John Malkovich
After over three decades, Michelle Pfeiffer‘s salacious yet controversial relationship with her Dangerous Liaisons co-star John Malkovich seems like a blurry polaroid. Back then, however, the couple made headlines after their electric on-screen chemistry snaked into real lives to such a heavy extent that it ended up obliterating the actor’s marriage.
During the production of the Stephen Frears-helmed drama, the leading stars, who’d both been married to different partners, soon found themselves getting amorous behind the cameras as well. Not long after his fling with Pfeiffer escalated, Malkovich’s then-wife, Glenne Headly, divorced the Oscar-nominated actor after about six years of marital bliss.
Even the Grease 2 star, who’d been wedded to Peter Horton from 1981-88, ended up splitting from him soon after the former’s extramarital affair unfolded. However, Pfeiffer, 65, to this very date, has never outright addressed her scandalous romance with Malkovich, 69. And while she would eventually find love again, Pfeiffer would never repeat her past transgressions thereafter.

It’s been about thirty years since Pfeiffer married her current husband, David E. Kelly, and yet, not once have the couple collaborated professionally, irrespective of the fact that they both have triumphant Hollywood careers. But the actress has always been outspoken about her decision to never infuse work and romance because, well, that’s a sure-shot recipe for disaster.
Kelly, 67, has been attached to numerous renowned projects, including Big Little Lies and The Lincoln Lawyer, and as much as Pfeiffer admires her husband’s work, she likes to keep business separate from their relationship.
“Nobody writes, honestly, better for women than he does. It’s unbelievable. And yet, I value our relationship more than a good part.”
“I just think it’s too risky. We’re both kind of fierce when we work, so if I come home and I’ve had a bad day, and I’m upset about something, I want him to be on my side because he hasn’t heard the other side. There’s value in that.”
And well, she’s not wrong either because it seems to be working out in their favor.
