Tom Cruise is the stunt Superman of Hollywood. The man is known for performing daredevil stunts on his own, something a lot of stars still don’t do. The latest Mission Impossible 7 trailer showed him jumping off a cliff on a bike and as per reports, he was the one who did it after a lot of trials.
But performing all these stunts mustn’t be as easy as Cruise makes it look. However, he has very rarely admitted to getting injured on the sets while performing these stunts. Once during an interview, he confessed what was probably one of the worst injuries of his career. Surprisingly, he didn’t get it on the sets of the Mission Impossible franchise or Top Gun.
Tom Cruise Revealed The Worst Injury He Got In His Career
In 2012, on The Tonight Show, Tom Cruise told host Jimmy Fallon about his worst injury. He revealed that he had injured his foot while filming Jack Reacher. But how did he injure it? Was it due to some complicated stunt? No. He got hurt because he had to kick a guy’s groin repeatedly.
The Top Gun 2 star said:
“There’s a scene where I’m kicking a guy in the balls, the testicles… It was a human being, [but] no testicles were injured in the making of the film! We had to do the take over and over again, and the first 10 times it was like ‘Yeah!’. After about 50 times in, my foot was swelling… I kept having to loosen my shoe.”
One can only hope that Cruise’s foot as well as that guy’s groin recovered. However, this isn’t the only injury Cruise has revealed over the years. He once talked about how he hurt his ankle on the sets of Mission Impossible: Fallout.
Tom Cruise Hurt His Ankle While Jumping From One Building To Another
In a People magazine interview, Tom Cruise revealed that he had badly injured his ankle during the filming of Mission Impossible: Fallout with Henry Cavill. It happened when he was jumping from one building to another one. The star said:
“I was chasing Henry [Cavill] and was meant to hit the side of the wall and pull myself over but the mistake was my foot hitting the wall. I knew instantly my ankle was broken and I really didn’t want to do it again so just got up and carried on with the take. I said, ‘It’s broken. That’s a wrap. Take me to hospital’ and then everyone got on the phone and made their vacation arrangements.”
Even though Tom Cruise has suffered plenty of injuries, his fans have appreciated his dedication towards doing his own stunts in his films. In fact, it is his unwavering commitment to delivering an authentic experience for his audience, that makes him so beloved to audiences.
