To add to her impressive repertoire of films, Hollywood star Amy Adams got one of her best gigs playing Lois Lane with Henry Cavill’s Superman. Apart from having the necessary skill sets to portray one of DC’s key characters, Adams, by her own admission, enjoyed her on-screen chemistry with her co-star as well.

Amy Adams Could Not Get Henry Cavill To Flirt With Her On Set

Hollywood stars Amy Adams and Henry Cavill first shared screen space together in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. Adams, who played Superman’s love interest and accomplished reporter Lois Lane, spoke about the chemistry she shared with her co-star and even admitted that Cavill was an extremely good kisser.

The Fighter star was also candid about her attraction to the British star’s brooding good looks along with his attractive personality. She lightheartedly rued the fact though that Cavill’s perfect gentlemanly demeanor did not give her a chance to indulge in some flirtatious moments with him. Speaking to OK Magazine (via Henry Cavill News), Adams said,

“He’s the nicest person on top of being just a wonderful actor and wonderful looking. He’s also got this great humility and he does a really great job in the role. He’s got a great sense of humour, but he’s not cheeky at all, so… I kind of wish he’d misbehaved!”

Adams went on to add that she respected and admired her co-star’s work ethic while also enjoying the thrill of making other female actors jealous for sharing screen space with him.

Man Of Steel Wasn’t Amy Adams’ First Audition For Lois Lane

While Man of Steel was the first time that Amy Adams would play Lois Lane in a movie, it wasn’t her first time trying out for the part. Much before Zack Snyder’s film was even in the works, Adams auditioned for the part on two separate occasions. The first time saw the celebrity auditioning with Matt Bomer as a potential Superman. Adams’ failure to get the part had no effect as the production did not see the light of day.

The second time around, the Julie and Julia star auditioned for Superman Returns but lost out on Lois Lane once again, this time to Kate Bosworth. Despite these rejections, Adams had the belief that this character had an intrinsic connection to her. Speaking to The Express, she confessed,

You’d think I would have learned. But I have enough Lois in me that I was like, ‘I’m gonna keep trying…’ I would have been, like, 75 and still auditioning.”

The Doubt star’s perseverance paid off, as her dream to finally play one of her favorite characters came through with Man Of Steel. This film then laid the foundation for Adams to develop Lois Lane further in the DCEU.
