James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 ended with a bang, and was a very emotional one, so when its most iconic scene borrows inspiration from Marvel’s latest pride, Deadpool & Wolverine, it just had to be one of the best recreations.
The space adventure trilogy is known for incorporating a curated list of soundtracks that go really well with every scene. In fact, the franchise is the only one from the Marvel universe to have its own mixtape.

A fan-made edit of a Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 battle scene accompanied by Madonna’s Like A Prayer song has been making rounds on Twitter. Check out the clip below:
In this scene, we see the characters walking in slow motion towards the lair of their enemies. As they approach, the song plays in the background, beginning with a soft tune and gradually intensifying as the scene progresses. The beat dropped as soon as they started fighting the alien creatures.
Netizens were amused at how the song fit the scene. It was surprisingly good that fans thought it was a missed opportunity not to use it officially in the movie. Read their tweets below:
If the song sounds familiar, that’s because it was used in Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool & Wolverine official trailer and in two important scenes in the film. It isn’t just a random song because it has been planned since the beginning, even before Deadpool 2.
The road to securing the rights to license the song for the film was a taxing job. Shawn Levy and Reynolds visited Madonna and tried to convince her to let them use her song. The Queen of Pop doesn’t just give away her song – especially this particular one – so finally hearing it play in the final cut was like winning the lottery.
Will There Be Another Guardians of the Galaxy Movie?
Watching that scene from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 surely made fans miss James Gunn’s beloved trilogy. After all, it was home to some of the most memorable characters from the MCU.
It looks like the director is done with the franchise for good, or at least the version that fans have seen. What we know is that there is no Vol. 4 after Gunn confirmed in a Threads post: “I think I’ll leave it at 3, sorry.”
The world of Marvel is full of endless possibilities – look at Hugh Jackman returning as Wolverine – so there’s always a way to make it happen. The studio just needs to crack the code.
