Rainn Wilson Called Out The Last Of Us For Being Anti-Christian

Rainn Wilson tweeted after watching the eighth episode of The Last of Us. He stated how he was aware of David being the main villain of the episode the moment he first appeared on the screen and was reading a Bible. David was a pastor in the show who at first maintains a friendly relationship with Ellie and Joel. However, slowly his facade begins to fade as it gets discovered that he is the leader of a cannibalistic cult.

“I do think there is an anti-Christian bias in Hollywood. As soon as the David character in The Last of Us started reading from the Bible I knew that he was going to be a horrific villain. Could there be a Bible-reading preacher on a show who is actually loving and kind?”

Not only that but he is also a pedophile and a predator whose goal of recreation and reproduction knows no bounds. He even tries to s*xually assault Ellie but she manages to fight him off successfully. Wilson stated that he has come to notice many movies and TV shows have a habit of showing Christianity in a much darker light and even villainizing it.

Fans Defend The Last Of Us And Explain David’s Character

Ellie and Joel

Fans were conflicted upon learning what Rainn Wilson had said. However, at the same time, they took to facts so that they could better explain David. He was a character who was not Christian because of his beliefs but because becoming a pastor put him in a position of power and let him target young girls while still pursuing his cult of cannibals.

Episode eight was not the only one to receive bad reviews. The third episode focused on the love story of Bill and Frank. It was viewed rather negatively by many people and was even reviewed and bombed heavily online.
