Edward Norton starred in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk which was one of the initial films that started the MCU. The film is infamous for Norton’s on-set behavior, wanting to have full creative control and suggesting various changes to the script that the studio had approved. The conflict with the studio led to Norton quitting the role and being replaced by Mark Ruffalo in The Avengers.

In the book MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios, it revealed that Norton is one of the people (along with Joss Whedon) who are banned from ever returning to the franchise. An excerpt from the book reads,

“If the Inhumans could be rehabilitated, apparently everyone in MCU history was on [Marvel boss’ Kevin] Feige’s call list—except Edward Norton, the franchise’s first Bruce Banner, and Joss Whedon, whose Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. characters remained in limbo”

After leaving the MCU, Norton went on to do other greater things of his own. He recently starred in Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City. He was also a part of the ensemble cast of the 2023 Apple TV+ series Extrapolations.
