Dune: Part Two by Dennis Villeneuve is already making noise in Hollywood for being one of the finest movies ever made. Music composer Hans Zimmer gave his incredible talent to this film, which already boasted an iconic story, a talented cast, and a visionary director, and Zimmer’s music was praised.
Well, the composer revealed that right on the second day of filming Dune: Part Two, he knew that the story wouldn’t be over. With music, Frank Herbert’s novels, and Hans Zimmers’ confirmation, it seems that Dune: Messiah is indeed in the works!
Hans Zimmer Confirms That Dune: Messiah Is In The Making
It is no secret that Frank Herber’s novels (on which the films are based) were also divided into three parts. The story of Paul Atredies ended with Dune: Messiah in the books, and until now, it wasn’t directly confirmed that a third part of the Dune franchise was coming.
Although it was indirectly hinted at several times, German film score composer Hans Zimmer, known for his visionary work in music, confirmed the people’s speculations. In an interview with Variety, the composer stated that Dune: Messiah was indeed in the making and that director Dennis Villeneuve had planned it for a long time!
“Denis comes in on the second day of shooting, and wordlessly comes in and puts ‘Dune: Messiah’ on my desk, and I know where we’re going and I know we’re not done.”
During the interview, Hans Zimmer even talked and praised Dennis Villeneuve’s film and revealed that he did not stop working after the release of Dune: Part One.
Hans Zimmer Trusted Dennis Villeneuve’s Dune
As the interview progressed, Zimmer talked about how he was still composing music after the release of Dune: Part One. Although the sequel hadn’t been greenlit, Zimmer revealed to Variety that he already knew that Dune: Part Two was going to happen long before Dennis Villeneuve!
“The first movie came out and I just carried on writing, and I got a phone call from Denis. He said, ‘The movie has been out for six months, you can stop.’ And I told him, ‘No, no, no, you don’t understand, I’m writing because I know that we will be greenlit for ‘Part Two.'”
The composer further revealed,
“Here’s the naughty part: The main theme for “Part Two” was written in that period, and I was on a massive European tour. I opened the set with that tune, and the audience didn’t know what it was. I never told them, but I thought it would be cool.”
So all in all, Dune: Messiah is indeed in the making, and Hans Zimmer is excited to compose music for the film again. Dune: Part Two, which was released recently, has been earning massive ratings and rave reviews from people around the world. With a rating of 9/10 on IMDB and 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, the 2024 film is currently screening in theaters around the world.
