“The wire snapped and I landed on my neck. I was paralyzed for a week,” Theron said during an interview with Entertainment Weekly. The freak accident could have left Theron paralyzed for life. After the initial paralysis wore off, Charlize Theron was forced to spend months in recovery. She underwent intense physical therapy to regain strength and mobility. During that difficult period, the Oscar winner thought her acting career was over.
