Ghost Rider was one of the oldest projects of Marvel before we entered the MCU journey with Iron Man. Despite getting a negative reception, the Nicholas Cage superhero project was a box office hit. When Ryan Gosling was asked what would be the movie with him if he had to go on the run, he didn’t think twice before mentioning the 2007 movie.

No matter how many people like it or hate it, Nicholas Cage‘s Ghost Rider caught the attention of everyone. But as per Ryan Gosling, he might have a deeper connection with the project which is also revealed in his statement during the interview when he mentions Eva Mendes.

Ghost Rider co-actress Eva Mendes received praise from Gosling as he spoke about the 2007 feature during the YouTube video that was conducted to promote his then-Netflix movie The Gray Man. The 42-year-old proved to be an adorable partner when he repeatedly mentioned Eva Mendes with whom he has been there for 11 years. When he was asked “Movie you would take with you if you had to go on the run”, he was confident with his answer:

“Ghost Rider. I like the actress in that film… Big fan.”

It was not the last time he mentioned Mendes as her name was raised again when he was asked about an underrated movie. According to Ryan Gosling, My Brother the Pig starring Eva Mendes and Scarlett Johansson is a movie everyone should see.

But it can’t be said that Eva Mendes was the sole reason why he picked Ghost Rider, as Ryan Gosling also mentioned the antihero later when he talked about his MCU debut. Earlier, when the Oscar-nominated actor was asked about a superhero he would love to portray, his answer was Johnny Blaze aka Ghost Rider.

Among a crowd of actors potentially heading for an MCU debut, Ryan Gosling was a major name who was speculated for several iconic roles. It was rumored that the Blade Runner: 2049 actor could appear as Ghost Rider, Sentry, or Nova in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

But there have been no official reports from Marvel about his debut yet which makes it unlikely for the actor to enter the bandwagon so soon. Even though there were rumors about his possible addition to the upcoming Fantastic Four movie, new statements from Emily Blunt state a different story.

When the Oppenheimer actress appeared in the Happy Sad Confused podcast, she didn’t have a positive answer for Gosling’s superhero introduction.

“No, he doesn’t. I asked him about it. He doesn’t. He’s such a dork, isn’t he? I’m gonna really have beef with him about that.”

Both Emily Blunt and Ryan Gosling are set to be seen together in the upcoming The Fall Guy. Although Blunt’s statements make it evident that we might have to wait a long to see Gosling play a superhero, we can never stop expecting unless the official reports arrive.

Ghost Rider can be rented on Apple TV+.
