While Robert Pattinson’s first significant role was in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire where he played Cedric Diggory, he became a huge and recognizable name as the protagonist Edward Cullen in The Twilight Saga. His prominence grew with his presence in Christopher Nolan’s Tenet and the critically acclaimed Water For Elephants before he landed the marquee part of one of DC’s most celebrated superheroes, Batman in 2022’s The Batman.
With more visibility comes greater fame and fortune and many stars revel in the limelight that has been their dream for years. But not all celebrities are comfortable in the public eye. Despite his cult fan following, Robert Pattinson has openly admitted that fame did not rest well on his shoulders. This led to the star-making some controversial comments in interviews.
Here’s Why Robert Pattinson Made Provocative Statements In Public
Robert Pattinson became a teen heartthrob after his stint in the blockbuster movie series The Twilight Saga. With his latest film The Batman, Pattinson impressed fans and critics with his brooding and dark take on the younger version of DC’s superhero. With a cult following and significant roles under his belt, the British star has naturally earned his place among the top earners and famous celebrities in Hollywood. Pattinson though, has confessed that being in the limelight was challenging for him which then led to him making controversial comments in interviews.
“I liked saying sort of provocative things ’cause I thought it was funny. I get very, very uncomfortable about doing sort of earnest things,”
Some of the wild statements that the Water for Elephants star has stated on the record include describing the nature of his saliva and mentioning that he could survive amid garbage comfortably.
Robert Pattinson Struggled With Isolation During The Filming Of The Batman
Robert Pattinson received positive reviews for his marquee role as DC’s iconic superhero Batman in Matt Reeves’ 2022 film The Batman based on the famous Detective Comics series. The film’s dark and grey palette echoed the brooding intensity of the character which Pattinson brought out to perfection. But the journey to transform into Batman was a challenging one given that most of the filming was done during the global pandemic. This meant that the Tenet star was in isolation for a major part of the production which he confessed, affected him mentally.
“I almost immediately totally lost all sense of time. I think something two years ago could actually be a week ago. It’s definitely been a complaint about my personality.”
The star added that living out of a room with inconsistent connectivity and hardly any exercise with the only equipment consisting of a ball and a single weight, taught him to survive and make the most of minimal conditions.
