Warner Bros and Cruise have now announced (via the Warner Bros Discovery website) that they will be partnering up to produce and develop original and franchise films that he will star in, beginning this year. The actor has already made 8 successful films with the studio including Edge of Tomorrow, Rock of Ages, The Last Samurai, Eyes Wide Shut, Interview with the Vampire, Risky BusinessThe Outsiders, and Magnolia.

Cruise himself is excited about this exciting prospect and shared a statement about the collaboration with the studio. He went on to praise the efforts of Warner Bros CEOs Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy while also expressing his intention to make great moves with them. He said,

This is not an exclusive deal and Cruise can keep working with other studios (as he is working on Mission Impossible 8 with Paramount and his upcoming Doug Liman space movie with Universal). It looks like this is his long-term plan after the potential end of his Mission Impossible franchise and it will be exciting to see what kind of movies he makes under the studio.

Cruise gave an update about the project last year as he promoted Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. He told Variety that while he hasn’t set a production date yet, he and Liman have started work on the film. He said,
