It Was Too Much For Zack Snyder!

The reason why Snyder left the production of Justice League midway was because of a personal tragedy that struck the Snyder family. With his daughter Autumn Snyder committing s*icide back in May 2017, Snyder left the post-production work to be with his family.

This resulted in Marvel director Joss Whedon completing the work for Snyder, and the result was the disastrous 2017 film Justice League. In a recent interview with GQ, Zack Snyder talked about the moments before he departed from the film, the consequences leading up to the release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, and how it was all too much for him.

“I was endeavoring to meet the studio mandate of getting the movie down to two hours. But I always had my director’s cut as like the thing that I knew was the actual movie. I lost my daughter to suicide during that time, and I really did try and stick it out as best as I could.”

He further continued,

“But in the end, you know, my family and everything that was going on, it was too much. And we stepped away from the rmovie.”

As the interview further continued, Zack Snyder talked about the movie that was created in his absence. Dissing Joss Whedon’s work, Snyder stated that he was told to never watch the 2017 film by his wife!

With the movie created in Snyder’s absence, the world was greeted with Joss Whedon’s take on the DCEU characters, and 2017’s Justice League was released. During his interview, Snyder talked about how he had never seen that movie!

“When we stepped away from the movie, it was my impression that the movie was close to being finished. You know, famously, I’ve never seen the version of Justice League that was created in my absence. Only suffice it to say that when my wife and Chris saw the movie, they told me never to watch it.”

Following a public outcry, Zack Snyder joined the world of DCEU again and released the iconic 2021 film Zack Snyder’s Justice League. The film received a rating of 7.9/10 on IMDB and a whopping 93% on Rotten Tomatoes and is available to stream on Max in the U.S.
