The movie included a lot of things that managed to touch the hearts of the fans. Rocket’s story left tears in everyone’s eyes and the conclusion left a warm feeling in their hearts. From Mantis and Nebula’s character development to Drax becoming more than just the Destroyer, the movie touched on every character in the best possible way. The most evident one happened to be Groot saying the words, “I love you guys.”

James Gunn Confirmed The Fans Are Now Guardians Too

A scene that immediately turned iconic in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was none other than the concluding sequence with Groot saying something outside of “I am Groot.” Vin Diesel’s character, as a shock, said: “I love you Guys.”

The audience was taken by surprise so drastically as they could not understand just why he was able to say that. The movie had a lot of journeys being depicted and one such was the friendship of Gamora and Groot. Initially, she could not understand as to why people were able to react and understand whatever Groot was able to say. However, by the end of it, she unknowingly replied to him in the most mundane way possible. Her astonishment at the moment only made her more happy because she too could understand Groot like every other Guardian could. So the question was, why did Groot say something outside of his usual lingo?

James Gunn did not let his fans be left in the dark and explained exactly what events transpired. Groot did not say anything outside of “I am Groot.” It was us as an audience becoming more than just viewers. We as fans have evolved and been on the journey alongside the Guardians of the Galaxy, marking us as a part of the team as well. Twitter too could not stop rejoicing at the fact of how significant the scene had been.

Could Groot Stop Saying “I am Groot?”

The end of the third movie marked how close the fans are to the projects being shown. The real-life parallel between Gamora and Groot as well as the fans and the Guardians was truly astonishing. Now that fans really do understand Groot and can consider them a part of the Guardians because of their dedication, there could also be a chance that the character stops saying “I am Groot.”

Perhaps Vin Diesel will finally get an opportunity to have more than three lines in the entire franchise. So far Groot has said “I am Groot,” “We are Groot,” and “I love you guys.” The lines have all held some of the best impacts in the franchise. So listening to the character talk in English might be an entirely new experience that the fans might or might not be ready for.
