“I made a lot of mistakes, I didn't have the ability to stop”: Dwayne Johnson Blames Himself For Ruining His Relationship With Ex-wife and Manager Dany Garcia

While his relationship with Lauren Hashian has been the stuff of Hollywood dreams, Dwayne Johnson’s relationship with his former wife and current manager as well as business partner, Dany Garcia, has been rocky but enduring. Their professionalism has been known from the boulevards of Hollywood to the rings of Wrestlemania.

And as such, the Johnson and Garcia duo is not only a powerhouse in the film industry but in entrepreneurial ventures and overtaking of empires like the WWE and XFL as well (although, the WWE deal is still an offer on the table and The Rock doesn’t seem too keen to bite).

Dwayne Johnson Contemplates His Relationship With Ex-wife

While appearing in an interview with Piers Morgan for CNN almost 12 years ago, Dwayne Johnson spoke about the work and personal life balance that he shares with his ex-wife and how he had failed to be the husband and partner that he was expected to be during his marriage to Dany Garcia.

“You know, I don’t quite know what my expectation of marriage was back then. I had made a lot of mistakes and I didn’t have the ability or the wherewithal or I think the capacity to stop for a moment and say, ‘God, I’m really screwing up. Let me just stop for a moment. Let’s talk about this.’ So I can’t tell you what it was then. I can tell you today that I value a relationship. When I love you, I can really love you, whether it’s my ex-wife, or my girlfriend, or my little girl…”

Relationship between The Rock & Dany Garcia After Divorce

The Rock had been married to the businesswoman, producer, and professional bodybuilder, Dany Garcia, since 1997. The relationship which lasted a little over a decade ended in divorce in 2008. The same decade had been the most formative stage of Dwayne Johnson’s career in Hollywood and the era when he retired from his chosen profession in the WWE to establish himself in the film industry.

The rocky beginning that he suffered due to his domineering and non-movie star physique was then turned around with the help of Garcia, who then acted and stayed on even after their divorce as his manager and business partner.

The duo soon became co-owners of business ventures, including Seven Bucks Production, Siete Bucks Spirits’ Teremana, and the more recent XFL. Dany Garcia’s brother, Hiram Garcia has also been involved with the evolution of Johnson’s Hollywood career, producing films ranging from Red Notice, Jumanji, Hobbs & Shaw to Black Adam. He is currently serving as the President of Seven Bucks and has written and produced the latest among the collection of films starring Dwayne Johnson – Red One.
