In a fluent Mandarin apology video, John Cena, who learned the language while assisting the WWE in entering the Chinese market, addressed China saying, “Hello, China. This is John Cena.” 

During the promotion of Fast and Furious 9, John Cena found himself in a regrettable situation. He admitted to making a mistake in one of his interviews, without specifying the nature of the error. In his apology, Cena expressed deep remorse, emphasizing his love and respect for China and its people. He repeatedly said sorry and bid farewell, sincerely expressing his remorse.

“I’m in the middle of Fast and Furious 9 promotions. I’m doing a lot of interviews. I made a mistake in one of my interviews,” he continued, without explicitly naming that mistake. Cena went on to stress the number of interviews he’s been doing and apologized profusely for his alleged error. “I love and respect China and the Chinese people,” Cena said. “I’m very, very sorry about my mistake. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I sincerely apologize. You must understand that I really love and respect China and the Chinese people. I’m sorry. Bye.” 

After a promotional appearance for F9, John Cena received criticism on Chinese social media platform Weibo for not acknowledging Taiwan as part of China. In his interview with TVBS, he referred to Taiwan as “the first country that can watch the film,” sparking a negative response from some Chinese audiences.
