Despite his fame and success, it turns out that his son had no idea about his father being a Marvel Superhero and thought he had a much more humble job.

Paul Rudd’s Son Thinks He’s a Movie Theater Employee: The Misunderstanding Unfolds

During an appearance on Sunday Today With Willie Geist, Paul Rudd revealed that for almost 10 years his son thought he worked at a movie theater.

The actor and father of two jokes that he’s

“not going to sit my kids down when they’re 3 and say, ‘You know, hold on…I got some DVDs to show you.’ I really didn’t even explain what I did [for work].”

He reveals that confusion started when his son was 4 or 5 years old and visited a movie theater with friends.

“I think that my son, when he was about 4 or 5, went to a movie theater to see a movie with his friends. There was a movie poster that I was on. It was in the lobby. So they all just thought that I worked at the movie theater, which I thought was very cute.”

He added that he thought it was cute that his son believed that he worked at a movie theater.

The actor further revealed that it took a few more years for his oldest son to understand that his father wasn’t employee of the month at their local cinema. He stated that he believes it wasn’t until his son was 15 years old that he finally pieced everything together.

“I think when he was 15, he finally put it all together.”

The actor took partial responsibility for the confusion, acknowledging that he never corrected his son and even joked by telling him-

 “I work at the AMC Lowes.”

In a previous interview, Paul Rudd shared that his role as a Marvel superhero doesn’t hold much weight in the eyes of his son and daughter, Darby. He told People magazine that he’s seen more as “Dad” than as Ant-Man or someone in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor stated that he believes this is how it should be and that his children don’t really care about his fame.

“I think I’m Dad more than I’m Ant-Man or in the MCU. They don’t care, nor should they.”
