Touring around the world, Reynolds, Jackman, and director Shawn Levy have let out some tidbits from the movie, getting fans understandably excited. They have had viewing parties, where a select audience got to see around the first thirty minutes of the movie. And the buzz so far has been quite positive.

As we have heard quite a few times by now, Deadpool 3 wasn’t almost made. Reynolds and the team had to shed a lot of blood, sweat, and tears before they got the green signal to get the movie made. But the fun part was that, even though Reynolds had pitched a ton of different ideas for the movie when the studio did give it thumbs up, it was to the very original idea that the actor had for Deadpool 3. In a recent conversation alongside Hugh Jackman with The Project, Reynolds said:

I think it is sort of tough to frame the making of this movie as like the underdog story that couldn’t. I pitched 18 different things to Marvel, and what is funny to me, is that the one that they finally were like ‘this is the movie,’ was kind of the first one I pitched.

Looks like Marvel and Reynolds did not need to go through so much trouble, as the first one was the right one all along. And if both Ryan Reynolds and Marvel agree on that, chances are fans would too. Given the hype around the movie, with Jackman returning as Wolverine to accompany the fan-favorite Merc with the Mouth, fans are in for a treat.

Will Hugh Jackman Extend His Stay at Marvel Studios?

Hugh Jackman said goodbye to the character of Wolverine in the 2017 feature titled Logan. Directed by James Mangold, the movie was a poignant farewell to a beloved character who entertained the audience for decades as the fan favorite Wolverine. So when it was announced Jackman would be returning as Wolverine/Logan in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine, fans were a little uneasy.

Many did not want him to tarnish the legacy that he had built so beautifully with such a perfect ending. But others were excited to have another adventure, especially now that Wolverine had Deadpool by his side. And with each day, the excitement is increasing. And now the question on everyone’s mind is if this will be the end for the character, or if he would return in future projects to the MCU.

Industry insider Daniel Richtman says (via X) that Jackman will be “sticking around for a bit more,” and we may get to see him taking up arms alongside other X-Men and the Avengers in an ensemble movie, most probably Avengers: Secret Wars. While fans should not jump at the rumor, if this does turn out to be true, it would be a treat for those who have longed to see the X-Men and the Avengers sharing the screen. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for that one, but get ready to enjoy having Hugh Jackman back as Wolverine for now.

Deadpool & Wolverine will be released in theaters worldwide on July 26, 2024.
