Henry Cavill has been patiently waiting for any news regarding the role of James Bond. The race for the character of Agent 007 is only getting more and more intense as every actor who is on the list awaits a decision. It was not his first time trying out for the role and the first time he got rejected was certainly not a demotivating moment for him, in fact, the exact opposite.

The actor was second in line to play Bond before Daniel Craig came and took over the role. Cavill had been excited to see himself wear the suit and get the tricky gadgets. Unfortunately, that never came to be. Although it brought to him a massive opportunity in a packed future.

Henry Cavill Took Inspiration From Being Rejected For Casino Royale

Henry Cavill first auditioned for the role of 2006’s Casino Royale. The role of James Bond that eventually came to Daniel Craig was almost Cavill’s. However, the reason for his rejection was stated to be the fact that he was not old enough for the role. There was another reason for it. The actor was taken aback by this reason but took it as an inspiration to do better.

The rejection happened when he was still an up-and-coming actor. Being rejected wasn’t a new thing for him and his journey in the industry was proving to be a difficult one. The actor revealed earlier that he used to be much healthier and chubbier than his present self. The story of ‘fat Cavill’ is not a new one and it would make sense to consider how the aftereffects of that would have stayed for long. He revealed that the scene that the actor had to perform for the role included him in a towel. Although his determination helped him fight off bullies regardless of the weight, it did haunt him until his rejection from Casino Royale.

Henry Cavill Turned His Life Around

The scene in the towel put Henry Cavill in a spot. It was unexpected for him and he did not realize how important his physical attributes were in the Hollywood industry.

“I remember the director, Martin Campbell, saying, ‘Looking a little chubby there, Henry.’ I didn’t know how to train or diet. And I’m glad Martin said something because I respond well to truth. It helps me get better.”

He transformed himself completely and started working out even more extensively than he already was. He was working harder for his roles and changed a lot about himself. Now his looks and his toned body are one of the most prominent aspects of the actor and it is all because of the effort he put in. What could have been an $85 million multi-movie deal for him slipped away like nothing and he was not willing to let that happen again.
